assistance with double yoke eggs

This is my first attempt at incubating and i put 2 known double yoke eggs in not knowing that they will not likely hatch. that being said i know that some have survived with assistance and would really like to at least try to help the chicks. im now on day 17 i know roughly what i need to do but its when do i pip the shell to give air and when do i assist with the hatch.

ok so 9 hours in to day 18 and one of the double yolk eggs has a big crack init going about half way round. without any intervention. also the egg is rocking so at least one is alive.

Yay!!! Very exciting. Keep us posted. BTW there are several videos on youtube that should assisting a double.

i think as its cracked and it can get air will leave it as long as i can without helping if can be im nervous about doing anything. but i have read and seen videos of people helping so will do it if need be. will see how it goes.
