Contest Details:

This is a contest to see who can create the "best" incubator page for BYC. The winner of the contest will get a $20 Gift Certificate for the BYC Store!

You'll be using the BYC Page Creation Toolto design your pages.

Here is what should be included in your page:
1) A write up of how you built your incubator along with any information you think would be helpful to other people who may want to build a similar units.
2) Any designs / plans you used to build your incubator.
3) Pictures of your incubator as it was being constructed.
4) Finished pictures of your incubator.
5) What you want to change / add to your completed incubator.
6) A parts list

If you want your page to win, make sure it has as many of the elements above in as much detail as possible! Here are some additional hints to help you win the contest:

1) Follow the format of some of the coop pages.
2) The more details and pictures the better!
3) Pictures - We all love lots of pictures, but PLEASE follow these guidelines: Pictures on the page should be no wider than 500 pixels. If you want to add a larger picture (we all love detailed pictures) please post a thumbnail link or regular link to the picture instead of the huge picture itself.

WOW......awful quiet here

Everyone is busy whipping up a bator...I know I am.

OK I will be the first to post. But I must say that this is a copy of MissPrissy and SpeckledHen's incubators. They deserve most of the credit.

OK here's mine, however it does not have a turner. We use it only for the final hatch times, day 18 and on depending on species being hatched.

It basically has the sportsman's guts being used, got the heating element and two wafer thermostats with switches from gqf and the fan is a large computer type. also wired a light in between the element and thermostats so i know it is working..
The small freezer i got was out for trash, took the door off and cut a hole through it and added plexiglas on the outside of the door and the inside of it, shelves are being used from the freezer its self, cat litter boxes as hatching trays and a smaller tupperware dish for the humidity pan, also drilled some vent holes on the front and back of the freezer with little doors to open and close for more ventilation if needed. door latches are from an old pop up camper..cost was around $75.00 to make for the parts, i found it holds its temps much better than most of the foam bators being sold today.. im hoping the pic's are helpful more than anything with building one of your own..

wilds of pa: I just noticed that that hatching tray might be too slippery for the chicks to stand up. You might want to put a shelf liner or paper towel in there. Just a thought Nice bator though

Wow,, I thought wooo hooooo I can enter this one,, then I saw the first entry and thought there is no way I'm going to enter my cheesy little cooler/bator with a lightbulb in it! But I will cheer everyone else on until I can build a better one that I can enter!! The bottom of the hatching tray looks a different color like there might already be something there for the babies to stand on in Wilds bator.

You better enter...there are a lot of us that don't have the resources or ingenuity to make a big bator like that. We need inspiration on a smaller scale. Now go on...make that page.
