Do chickens get insomnia?
This morning at 5:00 I went out to see about my chickens and my hen was standing up wide awake. Are ther any disieses that could cause this?

Also that hen seems to be moulting BUT, she's already moulted this year.

That's normal behavior for chickens and nothing to worry about. Chickens don't sleep soundly and the slightest noise will wake them. I think it a genetic survival instinct.
I have many years of experience dealing with thorns. The flower is worth the effort.
Remember the only thing you take with you when you leave this world is what you have given away.

Every night I open the people door to check chickens, and they are always standing, making quiet little bawk-bawks. I think they do sleep very lightly. Enjoy your chickens.

Do they make lunesta for chickens?
I can just see butterfly's flying out of the pop door.
When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
