My white sizzle hen has been broody for over a week. She just won't get up!
She also won't lay. I have orders coming in for sizzle eggs.
So... CoCo Chanel was given 3 polish eggs, one cochin eggs, and one silkie egg.
I marked them all with a big black "X" in sharpie so that everyone (my husband) will know which eggs to leave under her. She has been stealing eggs from the other ladies, rolling them into the corner, & sitting on them. (Well, except the araucana & salmon faverolle eggs... she didn't seem to like the tinted eggs... just creamy white.)
Now, I guess I just sit back & wait.
I have the 'bator ready to go... just in case.
This will be my first time letting a broody (chicken) hen hatch eggs. My broody quail hatched her eggs, but I didn't expect it... I certainly didn't plan it. If CoCo does well, I may let her try a peafowl egg later this season.
P.S.
My husband named the white sizzle CoCo Chanel.
He also named the black sizzle Elizabeth Taylor.
Don't let him tell you he doesn't like chickens.
