Can you feed millet to quail?

Is it alright to feed millet to your quail? I have two plants growing and I already fed a few little sprinkles to them and they went crazy. But then I found one dead the next day.

I am not sure if it died from the millet because I never saw the Coturnix eating the millet. The dead one was a hen and it was laying in a nest outside. It was also a little wet from the rain.

Anyways, is it safe to feed millet to quail?

Cody!!

Can not be.
I have been dumping the left over food of my parakeet (mainly millet) into my quail cage for several days as a treat, and see no side effect.

I can't imagine it being bad. My parakeets knock it all over the place and the button quail are my clean up crew for them.

Re: Can you feed millet to quail?

You need to make sure they have some grit if you give it to them though, either regular grit or sand/dirt of some kind.
