Normal behavior for the alpha hen.  Some are more masculine than others.

I have a Welsummer that has done the torpedo eggs, as we call them, since starting to relay after her first molt.  How long has this been going on?  It's a nice big egg though!
Wash the chick to remove the blood color.  Red lamp if possible.  Cornstarch is fine.  Blue Kote will help cover the color if you have it.

My five hens are now a year and a half old.  I had the same problem convincing my hubby...I had to build my own coop because he would not support the endeavor!  However, he loves our girls now and the eggs are fantastic....
