they are edible.best to soak them in salt water for about an hour before cooking. but it must be fully cooked to kill any parasites. as far as dressing it out,as with any game,wear a pair of rubber gloves and you'll be fine.
ok,get your cam out.then get your gun out. then wait on it to come back and take the predator down on cam. that way you can post the pics
in my experience,definatly yes!i have more trouble with racoons,opossums and bobcats in fall and winter than any other time of year.

actualy,a snake eats the whole egg shell and all. this egg looks to me like possibly a hen pecked it.
one tip,if you wax the traps once or twice a year they will last forever! realy good traps!
she'll be ok after a day or two.i dont think she'll abandon the other chick,never heard of one doing that after loosing some. sorry for your loss.
