piece of advice....DO NOT pickup a live opossum by its tail. It may not bite you but then I had a friend that picked one up by its tail and almost lost his hand for doing it.
over the years ive lost a few few birds to every predator on that list but the worst was man...had a man steal 50 hens once when noone was home by the time the law caught him he already had killed and eaten most of them and the ones...
If she would have called the law after tying the dog up its owner would have been fined and required to pay for her rabbit..and if it happened a second time she could have forced the owner to put the dog down...at least that's the way...
Here is where I differ from some of you ..if its killing livestock and I trap it, it isn't going to a new home its dead... I dont take chances on it coming back to kill more.
I've had opossums tear thru a fence before not much will stop a full grown opossum. What I found that works the best against them is a Blue Healer (probably not the correct spelling) and a 22 cal rifle
I have never seen a cat hurt a full grown chicken yet and I have had them get in the pens with the chickens...only thing I can say about cats is they are good at finding any holes in your pen that you may have missed...generally all...
