seems worth a try. I had good luck recently using a bandaid hobble on a chick that had both legs dragging behind it.  Kept the bandaid on until it fell off on it's own. good luck
Hi I got my Marans pullets from a local breeder; they are pretty good free-rangers and love their greens so their yolks are a nice dark color.  I cant tell any difference in the taste though. 
I read somewhere recently that they first eat whatever is at their feet.  Maybe you could try scattering a little feed on the paper towels, or maybe the other chicks have already done that for you? :)  
I think your coop looks wonderful and yes there will probably be more honey-do requests.  I don't think the chicken project ever gets completely done- just ask my dear husband.  He build me a coop a few years...
Hope you get a good hatch the second time around.  My first hatch I got 3 out of 15 and I will be trying again soon.
