Our Chickens turned 16 weeks today and the one Roo started crowing at 0530 this morning, wlhat a funny sound he is making! It isn't at all refined yet and I'm sure the neighbors won't want it to develop into a full. My question is...
I am having the same situation . We bought three BR all at a few days old and one is black and white but totally different feather patterns... actually most exquisite looking, but I think she is a he because of the comb he/she is...
I think I may have a ROO too. Mine are 11 weeks old and one definitely has a good sized comb! At what point will he start to fertilize my hens? When should I separate him from them?

We have a Cuckoo Marans who at one day old had red on top of her head.... now its gone. She is so much bigger than all the other breeds, We're hoping she is a hen not a him / roo . What do you think?
