This was a great week to welcome 290 new quail to the farm and 2 new splash silkies.  I really love Spring, everybody is doing great. The white silkies are about 1 month old now and beautiful and my A seramas are about the same age and doing great too.  Went to MSU a couple weeks ago and got some of the cages they had for sale.  They are awesome and now I have the chicken room of my dreams.  My mother is coming in in May and we are adding an aviary outside as I want to...
Are there any NPIP testers from the area going to attend?
If any of you members out there are tester for NPIP certification, would you please identify yourselves and how to reach you.  I personally need one in central Michigan and I AM SURE I am NOT the only person looking for someone to draw the samples to get my birds NPIP certified.   Please take the time to help those of us who are trying to insure the best quality and most healthy birds possible to sell and/or trade with fellow members and friends as well as customers...
They definitely require patience.  My smallest birds the A and Micro A's took the longest to make it out of their eggs.  I have them in the house I made a brooder for my chicks that hatch in the winter.  They are doing very well will get some pics.  I incubate at same temp as my other chickens and hatching rate alittle earlier than others by 2 to 3 days.  I haven't got a long history in chickens just a year but it has been a very enlightening and very rewarding...
Couldn't go had to work. I work for a Roofing and Remodeling Co.  Was in Three Rivers doing a roof today.  Do you know any certified testers in my area?  I was very fortunate my mother who lives in las Vegas helped us tremendously.  Bought all of my starter birds and most of the NPIP eggs she purchased to get us started and them bought me a 1202 hatcher and a 1502 incubator, so I am blessed to have all her help.  She is still helping and is planning to visit in May.  We...
Count me in I like.  Would love some new and differnet eggs to hatch and raise.  Thanks for the offer. Stephen
I am hatching Serama eggs year round.  We got our 1st 2 parir from Jerrys Seramas> They were a B and D pair and we have continued to buy eggs from breeders of smaller Seramas and now have Micro A, A's , B's, C's and the one pair of D's.  Seramas are the friendly birds and the love people and they are so small.  We put Sulmed in the water for the 1st 3 days after hatching, but they all carry a 1-2% fatal gene, and can die for no reason.  So far hatch rates are 90-100 on...
I am in Holt Michigan outside of Lansing. Started with chickens about a year ago.  I bought to pair of Serama from Jerry the gentleman who brought the breed to America.  I started with B and D class and continued to buy eggs from other Serama breeders now I Have A and Micro A birds as well.  Also am raising Coturnix quail and White Silkies, Mille Fleur, Cochin, and Seabrights.  My mother was instrumental in this operation to get it going and has bought for spring (May)...
