I have another question. Thank you for all the replies.    What do you do with the dirty sand? Can you put it in your garden? Does it compost?
This sand will be for the coop. Construction sand can be used in the coop?
We're thinking of switching to sand. What type of sand should we use? Play sand? construction sand? gravel? How cold is too cold for sand? What do you do if it gets too cold? What is too hot? What do you do if it gets too hot?
Thank you.
She died yesterday. She just peacefully went to sleep. Thank you for your help.
She is all bloody because the other chickens pecked at her. Now there are maggots on her bloody cuts.
Her tummy isn't swollen. Her legs and feet seem fine, except for a bump between two of her toes, but it looks normal. She is a Golden Red. As far as we know, she's not laying. She'll move, but kind of drag her bottom on the ground like...
Ok, we have this 4-5 year old hen that is not walking right. She just kind of limps around, when she does walk, which isn't often. She had a poopy butt, so I gave her a bath. I thought it might be leg mites so I put some of our leg...
Good, because my chickens were eating that. LOL.
Is it ok if chicks or chickens eat the sandy substance (No idea what it's called) in the meal worm container?
