He is extremely aggressive to me and kind of to the hens. I see him mate her a lot, but her backs not bloody. Just featherless...my first thought was the rooster then I thought mites maybe. Thanks for the link!
We have checked for mites and haven't seen anything...and how can you tell if its molting versus mites? She's really just losing feather on her back and near here vent. But isn't acting sick or anything. All the others are fine.
A few weeks ago I noticed one hens feathers were missing on her back...time has gone on and she's losing more. What could this be? I'm worried because winter is coming and she's losing more feathers ...help! . This is from a week ago
I love the idea of having a rooster and watching him protect the hens and hearing him crow. But we've tried everything to make him not so mean. At first he was a sweet, nice bird then when he got older he got aggressive. My hens are just...
When I say bloody, I mean more like a red raw featherless patch. Its not dripping with blood or anything like that. And I don't believe there is rats. I've never seen them in the coop..they get locked up at night in a nice secure coop...
No other not free ranged but they have a large fenced in space to run around in. And they have never have had pecking problems before. The roost is EXTREMELY aggressive..
