I use orange traffic cones for dispatching my birds.  They are readily available at home center stores, come in various sizes, and can be trimmed to size with a utility knife and screwed to a post or tree.

I did what farmerChef suggested and cut a hole in the top of the egg to see what was going on.  It was dead.  Looks like it died just before internal pip, not sure why, but I could guess that it got moved around too much...

How Funny!!!   If the canada goose of the opinion that your goose is a female, maybe he's right?  (or maybe he's just desperate)  :-)  Anyway, I figure the geese can tell better than we can who's who.

Still stumbling around but he manages to get where he wants to go. He's eating and drinking fine and seems alert and healthy, it just seems like he can't control his legs or hold himself standing up.

Thanks for responding so quickly!  He pipped on Monday, and hadn't hatched yet on Tuesday, so I enlarged his shell opening a little on Tuesday evening, and he went ahead and pushed himself out then.  This evening will be 48...
