Nambroth, Trousers may well be quite a bit smarter than your hens.  I read somewhere that roosters are significantly smarter than hens; there's a survival advantage in them being smart... it helps them bribe hens for mating...

If the babies can breathe, I wouldn't bother them yet.  
If it's pipping near the pointy end, it may be turned around.  They're supposed to pip into the air sac at the fat end.  I might just put a little tear in the membrane so it can start breathing.  I'm not an experienced...
I feed eggshells too, and if you crush them up to around the size of the oyster shell flakes, they don't even look like eggs anymore.  I haven't had a hen try to eat an egg yet.  
Thanks.  I'm using a Little Giant still air incubator and it already has a thermostat of sorts, but I understand that they can be prone to temperature spikes.  I was hoping that the alarm function on the probe thermometer...
Hey, has anyone used a digital probe thermometer (culinary type) for hatching?  It seems like you could just put the probe in the incubator and set an alarm to go off if the temperature gets to high.  My understanding is that...
