Dust baths are definitely the epitome of "happy chickens!" I think seeing them so happy is the only reason I don't mind to see my mulch beds destroyed!
do you know how they're getting into the coop? Is it chicken wire or a door with a simple latch? I agree with trapping them... or making sure your coop is secure.
