I'm writing one on dealing with chickens in the heat.   I don't think it will be as long as everyone else's though - wow!  Awesome job yall!

You might get more response to your question if you posted it in the "Breeders & Hatcheries" forum.  This particular forum is more about specific breeds and questions about breeding, ect.      
My wellies took nearly 10 months too!  They had their first molt this winter and now their eggs are HUGE and very dark/speckled so I finally forgave them for freeloading for so long.
I have a few light brown leghorn hens that give me lots of big white eggs!  Mine are just hatchery quality from Ideal.  I have to say, out of all the different breeds I have, these are by far the biggest troublemakers!  One sneaky little devil keeps finding a way to sneak out of the pen every night, it's a wonder she hasn't been eaten yet.  And just yesterday I happened to be cleaning out the nest boxes and saw a foot sticking out from behind one of them - somehow the...

All is a very broad spectrum, yes?  Chickens and roosters are animals, with animal instincts no matter how cute and cuddly they are.  This topic keeps springing up again and again on here and I wonder, if instead it was a dog that suddenly grew vicious and started attacking, would everyone still question it as being dangerous?       If you have small children, you should get rid of the roo.
