So by this means that if i miss a day of picking up the eggs, and they freeze overnight, they will be okay? good thread
It is suppost to snow tonight ALOT in Chicago, very cold. I added a tarp to the run and a water heater to keep the water from freezing. did that two weeks ago ahead of time. I also just added a game cam to keep an eye on the chickens....

Very great stories interesting.
I also have 2 chickens, first winter with them, and I live in Chicago. I have a raised coop so the ground wouldn't be so cold on them. The coop itself is good for winter because its tight, which gives them more heat in the shelter area...

A brooder would help. Put chicks in brooder and store them in garage or shed and when the are mature enough advance them to a bigger coop with bigger chickens. correct me if I am missing something here...
White Leghorn by far. Whenever I step out of that house she is right there. Never leaves my side. So cute! She loves me a lot and I love her back lol thanks for the eggs
