Yup our birds are the same. Out at -10F but will not touch snow even at 35F
So my chickens have a litter box under their roosts that is filled with sand. The rest of the area has wood shavings in it. I clean up the litter box about every other day. However, I found them recently dust bathing in their litter box....
We've had a gyrfalcon attack our duck and chicken, albeit unsuccessfully. There is also a peregrine falcon who was hanging out in one of our trees but we have fish net all over the run so that may have deterred it some
With the buckets being kind of deep, how do your ducks actually get water from there at all?
Living in AK too. Chickens are in an insulated coop but have been going out at -10. Getting 7-9 eggs out of my 9. Not providing extra heat. Not sure how much extra feed they are consuming since it's our 1st yr with chickens.
