Thank you! We will try this tonight as I have read similar processes as well, but wanted to hear from experience first LOL!  I will let you know how it goes. Poor guy is just filthy :(
Never mind :) We were able to get three geese today locally!!! Our goose was so happy. It was awesome. They are all huddled up bonding. He was so lonely. 
Gosh I have no idea, but hopefully someone here will have insight and be able to help. The only idea I have is maybe putting out some really good feed for the ducks? Maybe it is a deficiency of some kind?
Our goose is doing fine in 100 degree plus weather. There is a pool and he doesn't use it a whole lot, but it is there if he wants to. I would not worry at temps like you are saying.  I am not sure about shy geese though... Ours...
