Marans rooster will not affect the color of eggs hen is laying. If he father girl with blue egg hen ( like Wheaten Ameraucana) then that girl most likely will lay olive colored eggs.

What kind of feeder you use? Only I can think is that he is hurting himself if the hole is small and edges kind of sharp.
