I have inherited a few hens a couple of weeks ago and one of them is not laying eggs. I was told this hen is only two years old. I'm not sure what breed it is yet. It's a large white fluffy hen. I was told she would lay big brown eggs...
I also get calcium deposits on a certain green egg every now and then. I too wouldn't withhold the calcium. Maybe that certain hen is a calcium horder.T
So I guess I should let them rest most of winter. I think I might extend the light for a couple of weeks then give them a break.Thank you all for your info.
I want my new hens to lay eggs in the winter and I heard that they will if you put a light out in the coop. How long should I keep the light on out there? And is there anything else I can do?Tink
