momma hens does not need layer feed as long as she is with chicks let her eat starter feed until you put her back in with layers they all will be fine.
you can make a frame out of 1x4 inche boards or you can use 2x4 welded wire. cut a piece about 3 ft. long and bend it and put over feeder. that way chicks can go in to get feed and the hen can not get to the food to turn over
not this year i had 2 milli fluer cochin bantams hatch 13 chicks 2 weeks ago, 24 blr wyandottes hatch in my bator 2 weeks ago,10 s sussex, 1 l sussex 10 more blr wyandottes. 15 jumbo ringneck pheasants.with 1 blrw hen has 9 blrw chicks...
mark eggs with a pencil , put eggs under the hen, let her set if the nest is not to large another hen will not go in to lay.just look under her for a couple days and check to be sure no more eggs is under her i have 2 blrw setting on...
depends on the hen. you can put the chick under her at night. every thing might turn out alright will not hurt to try
you will not have problem's with mcmurray i have not bought chicks from them in at least 12 yrs but they have always been good with my orders. the post office will call you to pick them up when they arrive. early that morning

i keep both plugs out until lock down. then i replace both plugs. i like for mine to run about 30% until lock down then bump it up to about 65% to get it that high i put the pad in the water . also i put foil over about 3/4 of water pan....
