These are clearly not pure barred rock. one roo is dark colored like a pullet. of the barred ones i only see 1 pullet, 3 roos

the five week old is most likely a production red. it is a pullet i blieve, but is not a RIR, simply not dark enough and has those white feather tips i see in many production breeds. the young are not RIR either, but hard to tell at...

3/4" would be better. Like has been said there are a lot of factors involved. and 1/2" is not standardly used on roofs, often used on walls.
