Thanks looks like a few people have it happen just weird the day before she and another one my hens saw my broody with her chicks for the first time I am not sure if its just coincidence that they went broody the next day or not

laboured breathing  makes me think respitory disease.look up tylan 50 you could try that

Only other things i can think of off the top of my head would be heat or stress

If she sucks at hatching eggs I wouldnt risk letting her set on purchased eggs,if you buy chicks slip them under at night

yeah I have had some roos that I really hated but even then i couldnt cull them.My sister is going to freak out a made her  screen saver  look like a broken screen
