I'm having to do the same thing but I have a 42' 5th wheel running the generator for power. there shouldn't be 2 much jostling going on that way. I only have to go 200 miles on pretty smooth roads.
According to the specs on the egg-o-meter "Temperature reading is precise down to a 1/10 of a degree (0.1 degree)" I would have to trust it the most.
