i do not see how you are going to hand feed a d. dove from  day one just to small  you know  you have to hand feed it they are not like chicks

then you should not keep chickens and pigeons togather if chickens will eat squabs in the nest !

your bird is a ash red bar to produce more ash reds you need a ash red hen / a cock can carry another color and not show it until you mate it  if you are talking recessive red you need reds to start this like i said is ash red
