Sometimes 2 hens will lay in the same nest. If there is a cock involved, they will be fertile and all 3 birds can raise the babies. If there are just 2 hens, the eggs will not be fertile and the eggs wont hatch.

I would be afraid wild pigeon eggs would be dangerous to eat, could be infected with Salmonella.

Keep the birds up for a month or so. When they seem at home and comfortable in the loft, let a few, not all, out in the late afternoon. They will want to come back home and join the others to roost after they enjoy circling the loft...

You can use Pine, not cedar chips with pigeons. I use straw and pine needle with no problems. The oil in cedar is hard on the birds.

Chickens will kill these type of birds, I have had the unpleasant experience. Keep them seperate from chickens. Pigeons are gentle, but will beat up doves when in a small space.

Pigeons dont take sand baths like poulty. They do really enjoy a water bath in a shallow metal or plastic pan. Make sure and change the water as soon as it look the least bit dirty, they drink their bath water at the same time.
