Make sure they are warm. When I have chicks that start chirping loud at night, I just make sure they are warm enough and there isn't any light on them. Chicken won't sleep if theirs lights on.
As long as you keep the coop clean you have nothing to worry about.  Get them in the habit of washing their hands after the mess with them. Don't give up.

Theirs no real set time but most of the hens I 've had go broody from April-October. I've seen a few try to go broody in the dead of winter.
