If it's not in spray form, just dab it on with a Qtip.
Has she been wormed? Also check for lice/mites. Check her crop also. Egg bound?
Welcome from Oregon!
Molting is hard on chickens. My one hen just recently went through a hard molt. She was staggering couldn't walk straight. I knew it was from the molt because she was fine otherwise. She was off balance because she lost so many feathers....
It's normal. Chickens are hogs, if they eat their food real fast and then drink water, it will also happen.
My hens will periodically do that also. I think that sometimes they eat a feather or who knows what. Mine will do it for awhile, then it goes away. If there is no other symptoms it may be just that. Keep a close eye out just in case.
Scaly leg mites are painful to chickens and will cause crippling if not taken care of.
Sometimes they'll do that to adjust the food in their crop. Feel her crop tomorrow morning before she eats. That's when it should be empty. If it feels full then she probably has a impacted or sour crop.
Blu-Kote spray is good. Will help with healing and chickens are not as likely to peck at it because it's blue.
