Better google that. Lime is used in making cement and is caustic. Calcium oxide (CaO). Lye is Sodium hydroxide used in making soaps and is also caustic.
Hi,     I'm pretty sure lime is caustic when it gets wet, and not so nice on the feet. Just use coarse construction sand - no lime.   sassifrassi
Going to try it . I have a small flower beds that surround the chicken patio (used to be MY patio) that I want to keep green by planting ivy ( they didn't eat any of it last year - but their tastes change...).
Has anyone tried using Liquid Fence Goose Repellant to keep chickens out of the flower garden or away from an area? Thoughts?   Sasse
Hi!I have 4 sex links and one of them has a droopy comb. I'm new to chickens but I don't think a floppy comb is a problem as long as there is no obvious signs of trauma. However, I don't think Jasmin likes her nickname "Floppy"...

I make them oatmeal porridge when its cold and I add raisins or cranberries and sometimes I add protein powder.

How about whey banana flavoured protein powder added to their morning porridge? Would that hurt them?
