That's very smart, let us know your results.  You can also mark the chicks with permanent marker or something like Blue-Kote, one side for boys, one for girls, and see if your predictions are correct.
You know I never thought of that.  Whenever I have to make any changes to a broody hen that I want to stay broody I do it well after sunset. So it makes sense to also do that to a broody whose spell you're trying to break. ...
