Mandarins are a wild breed, therefore more flighty than domestics.  You will stress them out more trying to handle them, they are more for a beautiful thing to look at.  They are beautiful though:)
I have a barn with an extended outer "porch" that is all enclosed.  I have bantam chickens and my mandarins in together.  They all seem to be doing great.  They've been together over a year.

I was candling my broodys' eggs and there were soooo many I ended up dropping 2.  One cracked and bled a little bit and the other just cracked at the bottom.  I felt awful as I have never done this before.  I placed them...
Woohoo!!!!  I came home from lunch to see it not able to walk with its hobbled back legs kicked out behind him.  So I undid the hobble to see what happened.  It's WALKING!!!  Moving the leg normal, a little off...
