I have one hen who becomes a bully ONLY WHEN there is a broody hen to pick on! I guess broodies are vunerable- not sure why, whether it's a hormonal thing that others can sense, or just because all they want to do is sit around,...

I'm eager to place my chicks with the rest of the flock. We've had such heavy rains for the past 5 weeks that the only place that I have for the chicks is very muddy. They are 12 weeks already, so really not even chicks...

I had a chicken who was doing the same thing, so I started giving them extra oyster shell mixed in with their feed AND feeding them crushed egg shell in their feed. I save every shell from the eggs we eat and feed it right back...
