Dang, Trisha, what's the drinking age in your state?  It was 18 here, til they bumped it to 21.  23 is most definitely old enough to be drinking.
I've read that eggs actually don't require refrigeration to stay fresh, and some people leave them in a nice bowl on the table.  (Like you've probably seen in old paintings).  I don't know how long they will last this way though.
