Geese in general grow fairly fast, but Holderread's wouldn't grow any faster than Metzer's, possibly slower. This is an attribute to many pure-bred heritage breeds, but it will vary from breed to breed. With embdens, all should grow...
I can understand that price is an issue, but you really have to factor in the quality of the birds themselves, if not their actual show quality. Birds from Metzer aren't really selectively bred, so you're getting birds that have low...
Hello everyone,  I'm in the process of breeding some non-ideal buff chantecler stock, just sort of starting with what I have. The male has a nice cushion comb, but all the females I have have pea combs, which is rather annoying....
Looks like a saxony to me. Maybe not completely purebreed, possibly a genetic mutation. No golden appleyards that I know of.
I have to agree with Pete. Holderread is far superior in service, stock quality, hatchability, livability, breed selection, etc. Metzer is a huge commercial hatchery with little regard for the customer or the bird. If you're looking...
Not sure about the buff. She doesn't have the typical ameraucana-cross muffs, so I can't speak to that. The rooster actually looks like a cree to me. Those are very rare in the US, and are often used for fly fishing ties. I'm not too...
If they were younger, I'd be more worried. They're 6 weeks old, and should be pretty tough. If they come in a day late and they don't make it, they're probably bad stock anyway. But I highly doubt that they won't. They should be fine...
Yes, it looks like you have a nice cockerel there. Pretty big comb, growing wattles, and thick legs.
Yeah, from the photos it looks to me like 1. Pullet, 2. Pullet, and 3. Cockerel. Try to campare the thickness of their legs... Thicker legs means it's most likely a male.
I'm inclined to say orpington, due to the leg color. It has a single comb, so we can rule out wyandotte, and it's certainly not a phoenix. It can't be a barred rock either, and though it's possible that it's a maran, I'd have to go...
