We are three weeks from the shortest day of the year and my six hens haven't skipped a beat laying with the supplemental lighting.  I know some on this site feel it is cruel to make them continue to lay during the winter...
I was also finding blood in a couple eggs from time to time, but it was never more than a tiny spot that you could fit twenty of on the head of a pin.  I take it this is not abnormal?
I do have a 75 watt light bulb going to extend the daylight but I only plan on running a red heat bulb on the nights when the temps are going to be teens and below, just enough heat to take the edge off.  I do have a question for...

I have a little bit of space (3'x9') and was wondering if there is something anyone could recommend me to plant that would be good for the chickens to turn loose on in the fall?
Mine started laying about a week and a half ago at just fourteen weeks and the eggs are the size of a golf ball! 
One of my RSL's laid her first egg three days ago at 14 weeks!  She has since laid one every day but they are all about the size of a golfball.
Does anyones chickens use a kiddie pool to splash around in?  The reason I ask is it's been 90+ as it has for many of us, and we happen to be getting a pop-up downpour  and my chickens seem to be loving the rain! 
We have six hens, 3 1 yr old, 3 14  wk old.  The 5x5 coop is elevated with the 5x5 run and access to the 5x5 space under the coop, this outdoor space is always available to the hens.  I'm installing another roosting bar...
