Thanks for all the info... but I'm sure of my rooster being ten years old....he was my neighbors for 9 years.. he's so old his toes are wore down to stubs... but he will still take down any predators that come near the girls. (...
HELLO... I have 14 hens that are almost a year old.. last fall I was getting 12 to 14 eggs a day from the girls and I had no rooster.. a few months ago my neighbor gave me his 10 year old brama rooster. Who has seemed to get along great...
hello everyone... in the last few days I keep getting these tiny eggs( smaller than a ping pong ball) from my 1 year old rir. Hens who usually lay large or extra large eggs. Also I cracked one open and it had no yolk... any ideas why???
My hens all have bare backs... not sure if they are molting or if its from my rooster.... what do you all think???
my brama rooster is 10 years old..and still runs around like he is only a year old.. anybody know how long they will live ???
hello... i hatched 18 R.I.R  eggs last spring.. 6 of the 18 were roosters.. all of them were very friendly and were handled a lot until the got to be 5 months old.. why did the roosters turn mean at 5 months?
Our outside run started out as grass but now the girls have turned it to mud ... what can I put down to stop the mud ... but something the hens will still enjoy pecking at.??
Ok.. I also heard flax seeds can make the eggs have a fishy taste... I give my hens bird seed for a treat...does bird seed have flax in it???
What effects egg flavor???
I currently feed my hens straight laying mash and whatever scrap bread and vegies we have from the house... someone told me that feeding them cracked corn would give the eggs a better flavor... true or false ???
