Chicken Mansion

The Chicken Mansion, as we call it, was built over two weekends. We are still in the process of putting on roofing and installing nesting boxes. We also have a hike planned to look for sturdy branches or logs to allow for roosting and perching on the ground level, as well as adding the dust bath. The coop itself is 8 by 4 feet and includes two folding hinged "doors" that allow for easy cleaning and egg gathering. The lower level is wrapped completely top to bottom in hardware cloth and is 8 by 4 feet under the coop with the additional 4 by 6 foot run. We've had a rainier than normal spring so a tarp is keeping the girls (and one unsuspecting boy) dry for now, but they'll have plenty of open air sunshine during the summer. This set up seems to work pretty well for my small yard and gives them plenty of fresh air while in the run until I get home from work and they get to pillage my back yard.

I'm including the link. To the coop. We modified it some to make it more predator proof. We also did not add the external nesting box due to space constraints.
