Front doors and top were 1/2 inch welded wire. This allowed us to put a heat lamp on top when the chicks were little. Now we use the brooder as a chicken hospital if one needs it.

Along the front of the brooder we ended up putting in a board to keep the bedding from spilling out every time we opened the doors. Only problem with this is that the chicks all wanted to roost on this board as they got older.
