Excellent!

Pros: Easy to clean and to fill. Durablel

Love love love this waterer.  After a solid year of use, it shows no signs of wear. Another reviewer says it leaks, but in my experience it only leaks if its on uneven ground.  WAY better than the plastic ones that are almost impossible to flip over and refill without getting yourself soaked.  (We have a heated one for winter, and it is beyond annoying!)

Leaks and gets rusty quick

Posted

Pros: cheap

Cons: leaks, rusts quickly

You  have to get this perfectly level for the water to work and then sometime it still leaks. You have to monkey around with for it to work.   The handle  is welded cheaply and busted off when I was carrying it. The main top part and handle area rusted with three-four month of buying this.   I got two and within four month both were busted handles, rusted and useless.   I got a plastic bucket and it works fine.

Leaks like Crazy, didn't work for me.

Pros: Nice Metal Look

Cons: Leaks like crazy,

I couldn't get this thing to stop leaking. I even tested it by putting it on a flat concrete surface and it still leaked out the entire 2 gallons. Tried hanging it, tried sitting it on the ground. Returned it and went with the 3 gallon plastic. Girl at returns didn't even blink an eye, I think they probably get a few of these coming back in the door.

Not the right waterer for us

Posted

Pros: Doesn't get as slimy as plastic waterers

Cons: Hard to level, rusted

If these waterers aren't fairly level they leak -- that's pretty obvious. We don't have a lot of flat level spots in our chicken areas, so decided to hang our waterers and let gravity level them for us. But any clip a person might hang the waterers from could easily slide to one side of the waterer is jostled, then the waterer would not be level and the water would leak. We fixed this by putting stopper bolts on the handles, but if the handles were designed with a peak in the middle, they would hang straight without modifications. It seems like an obvious design flaw to me.   We also have very acidic water in our well, so the waterers all rusted within a few months.  ...

Pros: Sturdy and works well so long as you keep it level

Cons: Trouble with one rusting.

I bought 2 two gallon founts last spring when I first got my feathery bunch and they have both been filled using the same exact water and used the same amount of time. One of the founts is still in great shape while the second is all rusted inside. Looks like the galvanizing didn't hold up. I will either have to buy another or figure out a way to seal or paint the inside to stop the rust.

Couldn't ever get this one to stop dispensing water!

Pros: Would be great for ducks, as it leaks like crazy!

Cons: Constant drip

I tried one of these waterers in my brooder set-up for 26 Freedom Ranger meat chicks.  Even though it was suspended from a secure support, the thing just wouldn't stop dispensing water - ultimately draining the whole thing by 24hrs - straight into my brooder!  A new batch of pine shavings later, I replaced this with a Little Giant plastic waterer, a brand I know and use for my Black Java flock.   I tried several different installation configurations (on a level platform, hanging by rope, hanging by chain) but none seemed to provide the stability the seal required.    I did not use this for my chicks after the third try - it's out of here and in the...
