I love my baby's cookie! He is one of the calmest birds in our flok!

Pros: beautiful
Cons: I don't have any yet
How can you find faults with two day old chicks? Lol. Mine are so adorable. Everything they do is cute.

One of them sunbathing - looks dead, but I assure you, she/he is not gig.gif

Pros: Friendly, conversation starter, stress reducer
Cons: genetic mess

I have one rooster, he was supposed to be a Barred rock hen at time of purchase. Super friendly, always allows me pick him up. He seems to be very protective of his hens, but my Leghorns boss him around. He does not crow much, seems to have trouble walking due to the extra toe but a fine chicken non-the-less

Pros: Funky, funny, friendly, cute
Cons: Dumb, can be flighty, very shallow gene pool, horrible layers

I've owned both LF & bantam Houdan. I must say I prefer the bantams over the LF. They actually seem a lot less flighty and I've had no aggression problems with the bantams like I did with the LF. They do have some hardiness issues and they're certainly on the low end of the "smarts" department with the breeds I own. Nonetheless, they are funny little birds.

Pros: Friendly
Cons: So-So layer, needs maintenance

Agree with Rare Feathers - not the sharpest tack, but friendlier than my other chickens.

I believe part of the Dumb is sight-related - need to keep the crest trimmed or my hen runs into doors and is generally more flighty. When I can see her eyes, she's a lot calmer.

Egg production hardly stellar - maybe 3-5 a week when she's laying.

Mine went Mega-Broody last Summer - not characteristic of the breed.

Still, she is fun enough so I am considering getting another...or two...
