I received this book as a Christmas gift and I have been very disappointed with it. The section on breeds focuses mainly on the history of each breed while, in most cases, leaving out info such as bird size, temperament, broodiness, hardiness, suitability as a meat bird or layer or dual purpose. For a newbie trying to pick I breed I was frustrated with this chapter!
Throughout the book I found the topics/information was very disorganized, and poorly written. It doesn't flow in any kind of logical manner, in my opinion.

This is a nice, beginners guide to raising chickens. It has amazing photos and many chapters. A basic book, but nonetheless a great one!

I just got this book for my birthday and it is great! There is lots of info on everything about chickens. It also has many colorful illustrations. I would definitely recommend this book.
