Ava is Really Nice

Posted

Pros: Small, Ornamental, Good Layers, Like Treats

Cons: You have to raise the chicks yourself to have tame birds, can't buy an older bird like me and try and tame them.

This is Ava: Ava is gorgeous. See? Love her even if I can't hold her. She still enjoys treats though.

Not my fav breed

Posted

Pros: Pretty to look at, fair layers

Cons: Flighty, escape artist, bossy, bitey

I have 2 of these.  Elvira is the larger hen.  She is loud and unfriendly, pecking at anyone that comes within 20 ft of her, and lays about 2 eggs a week.  She flies 5ft up to my back porch most daily.  I have also seen her fly 7ft up onto a low spot on my roof!  Snow White is the smallest.  She is a good layer, about 3-5 each week.  She is shy and untrusting. Snow White loves to disappear in the afternoon, hiding and spending the night alone outside the protection of the coop.  Both our escape artists.  As of this day they are about 8 months old.  I will never purchase this breed again.

Pros: Smart, beautifull

Cons: wife hates 5am wake up calls

I have a pair of blue rosecombs, the rooster is the favorite of all my birds. It's almost like he is naturally trained, almost dog like. No fear of me at all, no aggression towards people. I call him he comes, I tell him to get on his perch 5 feet off the ground He goes. Love this bird.

i have 19, 2 adults and 17 chicks born within the past month. They are really friendly and they tend to hang out with their own kind. They are pretty good egg layers considering their size. They were my first chickens ever and I"m still wanting more>

Very Sharp bantam birds

Posted

Pros: Very alert, hens are very good broodies, Cocks take very good care of their hens

Cons: Can be flighty

These are just the best bantams ever!! Very alert, and proud.  A true bantam, no large fowl in this breed.  Lots of colors, some are still in development.  One of the best birds to learn to show with.  Breeders out their are very helpful.  Very cold hardy with the rosecomb, and make wonderful pets.

Great pets!

Posted

Pros: Nice layer, GREAT mothers, sweet boys

Cons: none!

Cold hardy with the rose comb, some of the best broodies I've ever had! Every rooster was a cute, talkative, gentleman that took excellent care of his girls. The hens were reliable layers of little white eggs.   Good foragers, good fliers.
