Pros: Smallest chicken in the world. Very pretty, variety of colors.
Cons: Too loud for tiny suburban backyard, tiny but adorable eggs.

Very cute little birds.  They are friendly to other chickens but skittish toward me.  They were way too loud for our little backyard.  Lay very small adorable off white eggs.

Pros: Friendly, cute, full of personality, lots of color variety, make good pets, can be kept in smaller areas, good for showing
Cons: Eggs are tiny, can't handle cold weather, more susceptible to predators due to small size, very typey birds can be $$$$, can be messy eaters

I got my first serama pair in February, and have since added a few pullets.  Mine range in weight from 10 oz. up to 14.5 oz., although I think my cockerel will probably eventually reach a pound.  I love them!  My husband loves them!  Ours had not been handled much when we got them, but they tamed down really quickly with treats (mine LOVE raisins) and gentle handling.  Of course now they're all terrible moochers...lol.  Two of mine (Lucy and Lacy) are especially loving and will go to sleep in my hands when I'm petting/grooming them.  One (Lucy) will run up to me and fly up onto my shoulder.  They're just so danged CUTE!!  Although the roosters aren't as loud as LF roos, some of them can still be pretty loud, so don't count on a tiny crow from a tiny rooster...lol.

Pet quality seramas can be had for around $25 - $35.  Better quality $50 - $100.  I've seen really nice birds sell for several hundred dollars each.

Pros: Tiny, Compact, Friendly, Broody, Quiet Crowing
Cons: Malaysians can have back problems (American Okay), Can be wild when not socialized, Poor Layers

I've only owned 1 serama hen and I still have her. She's such a joy to be around. She's housed with three other bantams: 1 Silver Sebright Rooster,1 Golden Sebright Hen and a Black Tailed White Japanese. She is third in the pecking order, but sometimes second. When I got Bottle-Cap she's was wild, she came from someone is Northern Utah and I traded my turkeys for her + $30 and the original price of the turks was $35, so this banty just costed me $5. Here's her picture, and she's tame now.

Pros: Extremely friendly, curious, great house pet..
Cons: Can be fragile, because of the small size
Because of size constraints at my house I looked into banty sized birds and discovered Seramas in the process. I never looked back, they are the ULTIMATE pet in my book. They are friendly, fun to watch at play, great lap-dogs, I could go on and on....I take my favorite with in the car, into stores, that allow animals, [great ice breaker]. My Lulu rides on the shopping cart handle at Home Depot. Oh I could go on and on. Mine are strictly pets but there is a growing interest in showing these guys too...
They are NOT cold hardy so you do have to take that into consideration. I am lucky enough to have a hen that is a hatching fool and a great mama . Mine live with two large banty sized hens and there is no problems. They can and will hold their ground if necessary. Don't know how I lived with out them! love.gif

Pros: Very pretty, small, Friendly, easy to handle, cockerels can be child friendly
Cons: My young cockerels started to fight and had to be seperated, not cold hardy

I do like these birds, and have desided to have a go at breeding them.

I find them to be very tameable, and that they tend to settle nicely when being handled.

They seem to travel well and are all for a trip in the car to see friends.

I was very impressed at how well my young cockerel behaved around my friends very excitable 6yr old.

He was very calm, no agression, but still kept his confidence and posed when placed down, with the odd wing flap to show off how dominant and pretty he is ;)

I find the hens to be more timid though they seem very curious. I have a cute silkied hen that is a tiny class A yet if I put my hand by her and she isn't interested, she'll let me know with a good peck!

Not aggressive, but not submissive either :)

I enjoy them alot.

Pros: Small, Pretty, Docile, and Quiet
Cons: Not cold heardy

I got my first pair of Seramas for only $25 from a man who was getting out of raising chickens. She was a great layer and would lay for weeks strait! When I got them they had not been socialized and would not let you get any where near them. It was amazing how quickly that turned around though!!! I really didn't want a rooster so I found him a home, and kept her. While both of them them became very friendly the female was so friendly she became a house chicken!!! She would site on your shoulder and watch TV with you or with me she would sit in my lap and fall asleep love.gif She would follow you around the yard and loved hanging out with the cat, or the dogs when she's inside. I LOVE seramas!!!!!

Pros: sweet and very tame. The rooster's are like a cartoon version of a standard size.
Cons: They do not tolerate cold well so they need some extra care.

I received two rooster's and a beautiful hen off of freecycle. The woman was going out of the country and needed them to go to a new home "like yesterday". I was instantly in love! I really don't think I could have to many. I now have 3 rooster's and two hens. Unfortunatly I didn't have the $ to get more because they are so expensive. I recently purchased an incubatore and I am currently doing a test run. If everything goes well I will get eggs to hatch. I don't think anything in the world (besides my kids) could be cuter than a serama chick. Oh also my little man Harold goes to the coffee shop with me and sits in their nice sunny garden and crows for everyone. They love it and the little kids love that they are able to pet him.

Pros: very sweet, small and good for smaller spaces
Cons: little cold tolerance, a little flighty

I love my two seramas! They are super sweet, and the 3 month old pullet is kinda needy and chirpy but its really cute since she likes to follow me around everywhere!  My hen is very sweet and is happy to just perch on my arm! They are pretty small, and my hen is less than 5 inches at the shoulder. Although be careful, as they are pretty flighty and since they have tiny bodies and large wings they can get far! My pullet is about 3 inches at the shoulder but can fly about 10 feet!! The silver laced hen in the picture gallery above is mine!

Pros: Friendly, beautiful array of colors, tiny, frizzles & silkied
Cons: not really cold tolerant... but that gives you an excuse to bring them in the house!

I just got a silkied pair and the hen especially is so tiny I can hardly believe she's real! They are also the friendliest, sweetest chickens I have ever owned. They actually seek out attention and if I give one too much attention the other gets upset! I was cuddling my rooster and the cage door was open, and the hen jumped out and made herself at home on my lap. The number of beautiful colors out there is astounding, and there are frizzles and booted as well as silkied and smooths! I my next will be a frizzle, I think. They are too cute!
