Seems like it took FOREVER!!

Can you tell if its totally firm? Usually the only ones I get that they have laid overnight are soft ones. My guess would be to give her a little time. She'll get straightened out on her own.

h, maybe put some hay unndr the roosting pole to buffer the fall. That should help however I do think your idea of lowering the bar would be best
 
I had a hen that did that also but she eventually quit. Now I have two new hens laying in a nest they built in the coop. I tear the nest up every day and the next day they make it again. I guess they don't like the nesting boxes.
