Thanks for your comments... I did more research and found an article that said the clots are a common post mortem finding, and probably true, because the next one I did had the same thing. Second chick lived for 41 days with the yolk.

Of course doing the necropsies saddens me, but it also fascinate me. :oops:

It is very saddening, but of the few I have done I found comfort in knowing that my diagnostic skills for other sick ones is improved as I can equate symptoms with the disease processes going on inside.
I always found dissection at school and college interesting. The way that human and animal bodies function is amazing and its incredible how similar we are between the species.
It also always amazes me that the delicate systems don't break down more often!
It's wonderful that we are able to share our findings with people so that others too can learn from our loses.
