Just getting started in the forum....but I've kept chickens for five years now. 10 days ago, I hatched my first batch of chickens. Oh, what fun...but now I'm left with the dreaded roo or hen. I'm hoping to get help along the way. All of my Roo will go to homes in need of a Rooster. I've gone through so much with my gals...it's nice to know I can get a little help now.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Congratulations on your first hatch :celebrate It really is lots of fun and very rewarding. I just love incubating and hatching and I'm always a happy bunny when I've got the incubator on :bun

Once your chicks are older there are lots of members who will be able to help you sex them. I'm afraid that is the downside of hatching eggs. Wishing you the very best of luck in the future. Be sure to ask any questions, everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Congrats on your hatch! It's always so rewarding to hatch out and raise your own birds! I hope you don't end up with any roosters but I also wouldn't be surprised if you do since they weren't bought sexed. Like Yorkshire Coop mentioned, once they are old enough, we can help determine their gender. Be sure to post pics here https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this

Good luck with this new adventure and welcome to our community!
