I have read that the larvae of soldier flies are an excellent source of protein, and would like to give some to my ladies. I only researched the larvae because I discovered I have around 7 million of them in my compost pile where I am composting the pine flake bedding out of my chickens coop, so the maggots are being bred in the chickens waste. I have seen tons of youtube videos and random stuff I have searched on this topic where people feed them to their chickens right from the waste, but I have to ask the experts on the matter. Is it safe to feed my chickens the larvae that is actively composting their own waste?
