Terrorizing my chickens.

I never said it was humane, I was just pointing out that it works for some people. Most of the urine for sale is fake/synthetic, you need the real stuff for any effect.

This thread has gotten really off-topic.

You're wrong about the predator urine. I know many people who have used wolf urine to great effect.

I'm not wrong, sorry....

You did not say wolf urine, you said predator urine.

It is not a magic fix and may not work at all, wolfs are not the only predators that prey on coyotes, humans do also. That didn't seem to stop them, secondly coyotes and wolfs share the same habitats, coyotes often scavenge wolf kills.

While it may work for a short time, it's not gonna keep the coyotes away forever and if you have a pack working around you it likely won't work at all. Not to mention how much reapplying you would need to do due to weather factors alone. Human urine doesn't deter coyotes or deer for that matter.

As a trapper I've seen lots of things, including a pack of coyotes that killed a pair of bad *** German shepherds, trained guardian dogs that were like ninjas. We trapped 12 coyotes of a double set in 9 days, the biggest male was 70lbs they ripped apart and ate those sheapards like they were sheep. Those coyotes feared nothing, not even me. No chance in hell they would stay away from some wolf urine.

Im glad your friends had decent luck, but in reality nothing but vigilance and protecting your animals the best you can is going to work all the time. There's one other method that I know for sure works 100% of the time is lead. ( if your in California copper or other non lead ammunition)

Coyotes are just a type of wolf anyway. They are fully fertile with one another. However urine contains information for predators and as proper "wolves" tend to be bigger than coyotes, their urine is more effective.

Coyotes aren't really a big threat to chickens as long as they're in a coop. I don't really know why anyone would bother to try and repel them anyway. Waste of time.

Um yeah, kinda the POINT; its an ATTRACTANT to them.... Oh my lol, never mind.... Ibtrap them because they stalk my sheep, and um.... I've SEEN what coyotes do to my fencing and coop, so yeah, they want those chickens and urine doesn't stop em lol... I'll stick with what I KNOW. ;)

I actually wanted to clarify some misinformation posted earlier, can't find it to quote it...

IT IS ILLEGAL FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS TO RELOCATE. ALL TRAPPED ANIMALS MUST BE KILLED OR RELEASED ON THE SPOT OF CAPTURE. Don't want anyone getting fined now, you know? We need to research our own states before trusting word of mouth on a chat site ;)

I think I'll stick to my falconry thread with my kind of people!

As for people making fun of me and stating that I am ignorant and need to do more research...... I probably know a whole lot more than you think!

I am here to have fun and share my advice, I am absolutely not hear to argue. That is all that this thread has come to I think, bickering and immaturity.

I NEVER SAID THAT I USED ANY OF THE PRODUCTS I FOUND, I JUST THOUGHT THEY WERE INTERESTING

-El :)

Well I hope that clarifying things wasn't what got you worked up.... Really, its your choice; you are free to watch the wildlife and enjoy their glory... Just making sure there isn't misinformation, and people getting fined or coons getting dumped in my yard where I immediately kill them; or right into a tree with a HAWK NEST.... Relocation us a VERY delicate subject for a LOT of people, so caution is always best... Besides, you know how people get on here; feathers all ruffled over words lol ;)

You are more than free to try out thecwolf urine... But they trap the wolves and not so humanely "gather" the urine...not so nice for a species struggling to survive, eh? Oh but once you get a big whiff of it lol, you'll know why they are marketing it as a "repellant"... The stuff REEKS.

Sorry if it was me that offended you, just don't relocate around me, and we can get along :D
